Glossary
Dilute specimen
A urine specimen with low creatinine and specific gravity, suggestive of excessive fluid intake.
Last updated:A dilute specimen is one where creatinine and specific gravity fall below specified thresholds, indicating the donor consumed unusually large amounts of fluid prior to collection. Under DOT, a dilute negative may trigger a retest at the employer's discretion; a dilute positive is reported as a positive.
