Real-world detection times vary with substance, dose, frequency of use, individual physiology, hydration, body composition, and the laboratory's cutoff. Published windows are not predictive of whether a specific test on a specific person will return a specific result.

A drug test is not an impairment test

Workplace drug tests detect the presence of a drug or metabolite above the laboratory's cutoff. They do not measure impairment. This distinction matters especially for cannabis (THC), where the urinary metabolite (THC-COOH) can persist days to weeks after any psychoactive effect has ended.
